When it comes to stylishly elegant iPad accessories, Booq's products consistently manage to get on customers' good side. The Booq Taipan Spacesuit XS, a gorgeous-looking iPad sleeve, carries that same aesthetic to the table.
Measuring 10.6 x 8.5 x 1 inches, the accessory features a ribbed tidal wave pattern right on the body that's admittedly easy on the eyes (apart from, likely, adding extra cushion). The contrasting color combinations of the main fabric and the interior are similarly attractive, making for one excellent looking container to house the iPad in when not in use.
The Booq Taipan Spacesuit XS is made from 3mm neoprene, which the product page describes as a silky-smooth cushioned skin. Granted, that's not much of a cushion, but with the tidal patterns and the light padding, the sleeve should be good for keeping away casual bumps and scratches.
It uses high-quality YKK zippers for closure and employs a jersey knit fabric to keep the zippers from touching the slate inside. We're not sure about the interior material, but they do make a fuss about it being super-soft. Being familiar with Booq's product line, that shouldn't be in doubt.
Personally, I'm not a fan of sleeves for tablets -- even zippered ones like the Booq Taipan Spacesuit XS. Since they're intended to house the iPad when not in use, you're still exposed to the many things that can go wrong when you're handling the iPad barehanded. If it's more your thing, though, this looks like a solid purchase at $29.95 -- a good price for a good-looking accessory.
