Slotzz Is A Drawstring-Cinched iPad Jacket

by Noel on September 6, 2010

Sporting a design based on drawstring pouches, Slotzz makes for one stylish iPad jacket.  Even better, it goes one step further in the aesthetics department, giving you options to customize a number of things about your accessory.

Created by Simon Barker and Leonie Cunnington, each jacket features a generally similar design.  They all have an iPad-sized main pouch made from strong fabrics, a soft 100% cotton inner lining, outer pockets and a drawstring closure to hold your tablet in.

Each Slotzz pouch is made to order by hand, with a whole host of customizable components.  You can pick between different colors of either denim or Harlequin portia for the main case fabric, as well as a variety of soft fabrics for both the jacket and pouch interiors.  There are options for the front pocket configuration, the color of the thread used to sew the whole thing and the color of the drawstring.

The company claims their range of options allow for over three thousand variations in the jacket's design.  If you're overwhelmed by that many choices, you can simply pick from their bestseller combinations (they have three displayed on the website right now).

Because every Slotzz iPad jacket is handmade, turnaround time from production to shipping can take up to 3 weeks.  Price starts at £45.00.

Apple wireless keyboard emerges as the overall winner

With the more than anticipated demand for the iPad, Apple had to create some accessories that would make the device become more user friendly. The iPad wasn't created to be a portable pocket device, it is much larger and packs a bigger punch than something you could carry around in your pocket. If you wanted a pocket device, they've already got you covered with the iTouch or iPhone. Now, Apple has brought the miniature portable computer into their spectrum of quality products. Apple has never failed to produce something that is going to shock the world and change the way we use our favorite gadgets. Recently, the iPad has grown so immensely popular that availability has been delayed to other countries until they can effectively catch up with the demands in the United States.

Our reason for acquiring the iPad tablet was to see if we can replace our Windows 7 laptop. This was probably not the best reason for getting an iPad as it wasn't exactly intended for this. It doesn't have an operating system like a laptop would with a desktop and programs that you can easily click and drag and move around. It is somewhat more of a reliable picture, movie, and gaming device. However, the variety of accessories that are being sold for the device as well as the applications that can change the functionality of the iPad and provide you with a device that is far more capable of replacing your laptop are telling a different story. More and more we are seeing developers focusing on desktop and computer related applications and now we are seeing accessories providing this kind of functionality.

Something that especially appeared to us was the wireless keyboard as well as the keyboard dock from Apple. Both keyboards are suitable for different occasions and will probably be preferred depending on what you're doing. However, it is recommended that you buy them both because it would simply be hard to choose one over the other. However, if you are on a tight budget you will see from this review that the wireless bluetooth keyboard is far superior over the dock keyboard.

When we got to start using the keyboards we instantly noticed the positives and negatives of both of them. Lets start with the keyboard dock. One thing we love is that your iPad is never going to die on you while you're using it. The keyboard dock provides a complete charging station to ensure that you won't drain your battery while you are typing away. Another positive feature of the keyboard dock is that it has been designed for upright positions. Meaning if you are at a desk, a table, or any flat surface where you are going to be sitting in front of it then it is going to suit your needs perfectly. However, one huge negative aspect about the Apple keyboard dock is its functionality while you are using it like you would a laptop. We've found it can be rather difficult to use while in your lap. While not impossible, it does pose a bit a challenge and a couple times our iPad tipped over backwards while in use.

This is one of the main reasons why we quickly turned to the wireless keyboard to see what it had in store for us. Right away we noticed the flexibility with this device. Could you ask for anything better than a wireless keyboard? No cord, no mess, no restraints. It was a perfect match for us and it will probably be a perfect match for many people out there. Whatever angle you are in, whatever surface you want to rest the keyboard on the wireless keyboard is going to suit your every need. There is nothing holding you back. Something else that was very promising is the fact that it works perfectly in your lap. We had absolutely no problem with the keyboard in our lap. Something that did pose a problem was not an issue with the keyboard at all but was exactly what made the keyboard dock a strong competitor. If you don't own a stand or a dock for your iPad, you won't be able to have it sit upright in your lap.

Thankfully, there are lots of keyboard docks and stand available online but the downfall of this is that you have to spend more money. We already spent a lot of money getting our hands on the iPad. Why would we want to spend even more money acquiring all of the additional accessories that help make our other accessories better? Well, we didn't want to but we are happy that we did. Shortly later we couldn't resist from ordering an iPad stand that would effectively hold the iPad while we used the wireless keyboard. When it arrived, the connection between the two was a match made in heaven and the setup worked perfectly. Something we would highly recommend though is that you get the least bulky stand or dock that you can. You don't want to have something huge resting in your lap while you are trying to use your keyboard.

The keyboard dock and wireless keyboard are both full size accessories. They provide you with fairly large physical buttons that is nice when you are not accustom to the touch screen platform on the iPad. Typing away with a touch screen poses a challenge and it can be difficult to get used to. Even as an experienced user we still had our troubles. These keyboards are perfect when you need to write up anything that is more then a paragraph or more of text. The dock will charge your iPad as well as provide some special keys for iPad features. It has a connector in the back and a port to plugin to the electric outlet with the USB power adapter. The dock can easily sync to your computer and work hand in hand with accessories like the iPad Camera Connection Kit. The audio connectors will still be accessible even with the dock intact. The wireless keyboard is thin and takes full advantage of Bluetooth technology as well as providing the kind of functionality you get out of the keyboard dock.

iPad Camera Connection Kit Hands On Review

by admin on April 16, 2010

With the iPad quickly becoming one of the biggest selling devices on the market, we had to see some good accessories coming our way as well. Thankfully, Apple has introduced different types of keyboards, a case and now the iPad Camera Connection Kit. Undoubtedly something that is going to make consumers very happy. Just about everyone uses a digital camera now. While there is clear evidence at stores and such that people are still getting their photos developed and using old school types of cameras, the majority of people have moved on to digital photography. Digital pictures are great, once you take the picture they can be accessed right away from your computer, your camera and now your iPad too.

Whether you are capturing some memorable moments from your vacation, important event, or perhaps just some pictures you took during your day, the iPad Connection Kit was designed for you as a digital camera user. With the iPad being the kind of device that wasn't intended to replace your laptop but more provide a convenient housing location for your most important things like pictures, movies, music, and did I say pictures? It seems like family photographs have become just about everyone's most prized possessions that they store. What's great about the iPad is that it gives you that large, vibrant big screen that can really make those images pop. Digital technology has come a long way and it is really paying off. Could you have imagined us being able to store, share, and upload pictures in the blink of an eye only seconds after you took them? Surely no one saw anything this amazing coming anytime soon and with gadgets like the iPad making their usability more efficient we will be seeing more of them in the future ensuring that your iPad is going to be a piece of the puzzle in technology that will last. It is unlikely that there will be a device that comes to surpass what the iPad has accomplished anytime soon. This has been assuring to know that our investment in the iPad was well worth the troubles of tightening our budget so that we could be one of the first to get our hands on the device. However we were not alone in this decision because all over the United States the iPad has been selling more devices than Apple could have ever predicted. They have sold so many iPads that they have delayed production for international buyers until they can catch up on the demands in the United States.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit is the ultimate accessory to give you the kinds of plug ins that most digital cameras and digital recorders use in order to transfer pictures and videos. The majority of digital devices will operate transfers through the use of a USB cable or SD card memory slot. Almost all computers of today's age have USB plug ins for exactly this type of situation, when you need to plug in something as important as your camera. Apple didn't want to leave you in the dark with this one and that's where the Camera Connection Kit comes into play. Whether you have a camera that relies on USB connection capability to transfer your files or SD cards to transfer files, there is an option for you. All you have to do is simply plug in the Camera Connection Kit to the bottom of your device, right where you normally plug in the charger in order to charge your battery. Depending on which of the connection kits you used, you will now have the ability to plug in a USB cord or an SD card to the bottom of the connection kit. If you are using the USB cord you will need to plug the other side into your digital camera. This will provide you with an active link between the two devices. When you transfer photos, they will automatically be placed in your "photos" application on the iPad.

Apple definitely managed to provide an affordable and highly efficient accessory with the Camera Connection Kit. We couldn't think of anything more important than USB and SD card functionality but that brings me to our next point...

Something we thought was really a negative aspect about this was the fact that you have to buy the Camera Connection Kit in the first place. So many other products offer USB connections straight into the device. Why did Apple not incorporate this? Well were not exactly sure. Perhaps a traditional USB plug in on the device would be to big and would have had to make the entire design more bulky and they didn't want that. That answer doesn't seem very plausible considering they make Mini USB connections that could easily plug into your camera through whatever input connection the camera has. Not to mention that Mac computers have Firewire ports. Firewire has faster transfer rates that USB, so why didn't Mac use Firewire?.. it's their signature connector and everything. Regardless, there is nothing that can be taken away from the iPad Camera Connection Kit itself, but these are some things you can question about the iPad in general. Perhaps it is just more efficient to buy the connection kits and do all of the connections this way anyhow, but to me it seems like a negative aspect to the iPad not only because it takes longer to plugin the connection kits, but it also adds more bulk to the device and brings in the possibility that I could lose the kits. Making us spend more money on something that should have been on the design of the iPad to begin with isn't gaining any additional points. However, I feel it would be unjustified to give the iPad Camera Connection Kit anything below a 10.

Apple iPad Keyboard Dock

by admin on April 12, 2010

Everyone who owns and iPad is going to quickly discover the troublesome experience that learning to type on a touchscreen is going to present. It's not an easy skill to acquire if you have never had experience with a touch screen device. Rather, it grows on you throughout your use of the device and users seem to pick up the experience rather slowly. However, within a few days of using your tablet you should be at least functional with the keyboard. It's not built incredibly difficult, it's just that you probably wont type as fast or nearly as efficiently as you could on a physical and externally docked keyboard.

Apple seems to want to solve this problem for everyone by releasing the newest line in accessories including the Apple iPad Keyboard Dock. The Keyboard Dock is said to be one of the most functional and highly desired items that people will want to buy for their tablet. Perhaps the only thing your iPad is missing from becoming a full fledged computer is a more efficient way to write and type on your iPad. With so many available applications assisting you with things such as downloading, quicker access to email, web browsing, file transferring, and basically everything that you could do on a Windows or Mac operating system computer, the iPad is looking like the portable laptop of the future. Those who have gotten their hands on this new iPad accessory are saying that they couldn't have done it better themselves.

The iPad Keyboard Dock is about as worthy to become their dock and type device as anything they could have imagined. It doesn't take up a lot of room either. By docking your device you save a lot of your desktop space, or rather your lap space. Not to mention there is a extendable plug in that can provide you with some extra room for you iPad keyboard. Not everyone wants to dock their keyboard and have it pressed snug against their iPad. Depending on the way you're holding the iPad or the environment you find yourself in, docking the keyboard could become quite bothersome and be a real downfall of this accessory. Well thanks to Apple and the cord that makes your keyboard extendable, you now have a more functional and spacious accessory. The Apple iPad Keyboard Dock is a definite must have for anyone who owns this awesome device.

Elan Passport iPad Case from Griffin

by admin on April 7, 2010

Elan Passport iPad Case is perhaps one of the more sleek looking cases available on the market today providing a highly functional passport folio-style jacket for your iPad. You really can't ask for anything more appealing than this in an iPad case. We've seen them all, from the best of travel cases to the best of iPad skins and the Elan Passport brings something far more interesting to the table. Incorporating stylish design concepts and managing to keep things looking clean, simple, and extremely well defined Griffin Technologies have truly constructed a masterpiece with this one. We never though we would say that about a $50 case that shouldn't run you more than a few hours work. It seems the developers at Griffin were able to provide the Passport and one of the cheapest entry level prices that we have seen in iPad cases that are this high of quality.

You will find that the folio-style case easily opens up through a hook and loop type locking mechanism and conveniently tucked and secured nicely inside you will find your iPad. The multi-touch display looking exceptionally elegant in this particular case. If you are a fan of books of the left to right reading style, this case is surely going to appeal to your liking. Representing the flip open type of functional design that has been incorporating into this case that makes it operate much like a traditional book, you will be strangely familiar with its concept.

The suede lining provides for the ultimate protection for your iPad and you can be sure that if any accidental drops, scratches or bumps were to come in contact with this iPad case, your iPad itself will be nice and safe inside. Suede lining has also proven to be resistant from scratches and even smudges which will keep your case looking in pristine condition while managing to keep the very shiny and attractive appeal to the exterior of the case fully intact. In case you are involved with a business or maybe even a student, inside the case you will find  a pocket that was implemented into the interior of case to provide you with a convenient storage area for paper, pens, or pencils. Leather Folio iPad Case From iKit

by admin on April 6, 2010

We saw this design tactic implemented by Apple,  NewerTech, and now it seems iKit is entering the race to provide one of the most luxurious, functional and appealing iPad case on the market. iKit definitely shouldn't be underestimated with this one either because they've brought a whole new set of features into the mix. The case does look designed like something that is sure to catch the eye of anyone looking into a leather case for their iPad.

While iKit might sell several iPad accessories and products, they really took their time with this one and it showed to be a success for the outcome. Making more of an appeal to me and standing out from their other product lines, it's only natural that I come to tell you about it. Made from only the highest quality in leathers the iKit Leather Folio has a rich black texture to it that is smooth to the touch. It's real leather which is unlike other companies who try to take the cheap approach into making there so called “leather” products from fake and unrealistic leather materials. No worries with the Leather Folio however. What's great about this case and what we truly loved about other cases is the option to fold the top cover of the case backward and use it as a stand for propping up your iPad. This just seems like a wonderful invention to us and every time a new company adds this extra functionality to their cases, it provides a little more respect toward their products. It just shows that they take the time to implement features that are important to its users.

At only $40 it is by far a much less expensive option than other leather cases. Providing a screen protector and even a case cleaning kit with your purchase, we couldn't advise your more strongly to take a closer look at this case and really examine what it provides compared to other leather cases that are going to really put a dent in your pocket. Screen protectors normally rise up the cost of cases but with the Leather Folio, they managed to keep the pricing for their entry level launch at relatively low conditions. iKit is definitely going to be on our radar and we will be notifying you over their future products because they are definitely one to look out for. Check out the Leather Folio from iKit and you won't be disappointed that you did.

First things first,  I don't think M-Edge set out trying to attract any men with this one. With the Destination Bag looking a lot like a female carrying purse, you know exactly who it's for. That surely does not bring anything negative to the table about this case because this is by far one of the best iPad carrying bags women will be able to find. Featuring vibrant colors like green, purple, red, black, brown, and brown/cream, there is sure to be a selection for anyone's color preference. M-Edge really went over the top with this one and it's a wonder they thought of it. Initially seeing this case out of its packaging I was amazed by the true quality that it brought forth. You know that popular designer purses that are out there like the Coach Purse and such, well this Destination Bag definitely competes on their level while bringing the functionality of an iPad carrying case.

With a convenient shoulder strap to help you reduce the weight of your luggage in case you are housing some heavy accessories inside with your iPad, the Destination Bag just about has it all. Surely it is one of the most elegant and user friendly ways to carry your iPad. What we like best is that you can turn your iPad carrying case into a fully fledged purse with this one. For women who don't want to carry around their purse and their iPad case, because I don't know who would, M-Edge designed this bag so that you can stash any of your belongings inside to provide easy accessibility and more functionality.

Inside of the case are two elastic pockets that can store anything you may wish but most importantly they are perfectly suited for iPad accessories. In the interior, you will also find a zipper sleeve made just to house your iPad. This way, if you have makeup or other materials inside your case that you wouldn't want to be rubbed off onto your iPad, you know that it's safe inside its sleeve. For smooth access to your items the Destination Bag opens through a specially designed zipper that's easy to use. The M-Edge Destination Bag is really one of the more appealing bags on the market. I couldn't see someone who was striving to find looks as well as the best in functionality looking at any other bag.

Having the luxury of being able to throw all of your possessions, gadgets and iPhone into the very case that houses your iPad is truly just practical and awesome. For those of you who like to travel and need something more lucrative that can provide more to you than just a traditional iPad case, than Cocoon Innovations is probably going to be your iPad bag of choice. Cocoon Innovations has brought forth multiple varieties of backpack type designs that serve as iPad cases. If the Gramercy isn't something that appeals to you, they are sure to have a more suitable option that you will enjoy. With a very soft and comforting color gray, the Gramercy looks like a very nice, portable, and easily accessible kind of bag case.

Cocoon Innovations focused in on a number of different aspects with this one. They wanted to make sure they addressed the concerns and features that everyone wanted to see implemented into a case of this kind. Making the bag as lightweight as possible to cut down on the amount of strain that will be placed on your hand or shoulder, the Gramercy is already looking like a prime candidate. It features a more compact and slim design than others of its kind and looks a lot like a messenger style design.

In case the huge inner pocket hasn't provided the room you were looking for, the Gramercy has also provided a front pocket that is perfect for housing your headphones or accessories while on the move. If you were to place your iPad here, suddenly the case would provide a fully functional compartment in which protects your iPad while allowing it to be used through the case. If you are an outdoorsy person and perhaps like to go jogging, hiking, or camping, than the Gramercy is going to be perfectly suited for you. We found it to be one of the best in its class for activities which are going to require more demand in the luggage you're carrying around. It look like a great combination of functionality, decorative design, and reliability. Priced at $30 we were completely blown away by the kind of quality you are getting with this one. This messenger sling definitely looks like well worth the price.
